This Privacy Policy explains how Kerf Technologies LLC, an Ohio limited liability company ("Kerf," "we," "us") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Kerf platform at kerfapp.io and related services (the "Platform"). It applies to Customers, Pros, and visitors.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account: name, email, phone, password, and role (Customer or Pro).
- Pro profile & verification: business name, services, service area, and credentials or documents submitted for verification (which may include licensing or insurance information).
- Transactions: job details, quotes, invoices, scheduling, and records of services requested or provided.
- Communications: messages sent through the Platform and to support.
- Content: reviews, ratings, photos, and other submissions.
- Payment details: processed by our payment processor; Kerf receives limited transaction data and does not store full card numbers.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage: pages and features used, actions, timestamps.
- Device and technical: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and similar data.
- Approximate location: derived from IP and/or provided by you (e.g., service ZIP codes).
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 7 and the Cookie Policy.
2.3 Information From Third Parties
- Payment processor (transaction/payout status).
- Authentication providers, if you sign in through them (e.g., Google).
3. How We Use Information
We use information to: operate, provide, and improve the Platform; create and manage accounts and verify Pros; facilitate connections, quotes, jobs, payments, and payouts; process transactions and prevent fraud and abuse; communicate with you (service messages, support, and — with any required consent — marketing); personalize features; enforce the Agreement and protect users and the Platform; and comply with legal obligations.
4. How We Share Information
- Between users, to facilitate services: the information necessary to communicate and complete a job (e.g., a Customer's job details and location shared with a matched Pro; a Pro's profile shown to Customers).
- Service providers: payment processing, hosting, analytics, communications, fraud prevention, and support providers, under obligations to protect data.
- Legal and safety: when required by law or process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale.
- With your direction or consent.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
5. Payment Information
Payments are handled by our third-party payment processor (Stripe, Inc.). We do not store full payment card numbers. We receive limited data such as transaction amounts, status, and payout information necessary to operate the Platform. Your payment data is also subject to the processor's privacy practices.
6. AI Features and Data
The Platform may offer AI-powered features (for example, to help describe a job or draft a quote). When you use these features, the text or information you provide may be processed by a third-party AI service provider to deliver the feature.
7. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Platform, remember preferences, analyze usage, and improve the service. You can control cookies through your browser; disabling some may affect functionality. Full details, including categories and management options, are in our Cookie Policy.
8. Data Retention
We retain information as long as needed to provide the Platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and legal requirement.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Choices and Rights
- Account info: review and update certain information in settings.
- Marketing: opt out of marketing emails via the unsubscribe link; service messages still apply.
- Cookies: manage via browser (see Cookie Policy).
- SMS (if and when offered): opt in as required; reply STOP to opt out.
11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to: know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, and disclose; delete personal information; correct inaccurate information; opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as defined under California law; limit the use of sensitive personal information where applicable; and not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

12. Other U.S. State Privacy Rights

13. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 (and in no event under 13). If you believe a child provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy and will post the updated version with a new "Last Updated" date, providing additional notice where required.
