Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your conduct on the Kerf platform ("Platform") operated by Finley Ventures LLC dba Kerf ("Kerf," "we," "our," or "us"). This AUP is part of and incorporated into the Kerf Terms of Service. By using the Platform, you agree to comply with this AUP.
1. General Standards of Conduct
All Users — Customers and Pros alike — are expected to:
- Treat all other Users with respect and professionalism
- Communicate honestly and in good faith
- Honor commitments made through the Platform, including accepted quotes and scheduled jobs
- Resolve disputes constructively and directly with the other party before escalating
- Report any violations of this AUP or any unsafe or fraudulent behavior to Kerf
2. Prohibited Conduct
You may not use the Platform to:
2.1 Fraud and Deception
- Provide false, misleading, or inaccurate information in your profile, job postings, quotes, or communications
- Create fake accounts, impersonate another person or business, or misrepresent your identity
- Manipulate reviews by posting fake reviews, soliciting fake reviews, or offering compensation for reviews
- Post fake jobs to waste Pros' time or gather competitive intelligence
- Engage in bait-and-switch pricing or deceptive upselling
2.2 Harassment and Abuse
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, or bully any other User
- Send unwanted sexual advances, sexually explicit content, or engage in any form of sexual harassment
- Use profane, abusive, or hateful language in communications with other Users
- Discriminate against any User on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, familial status, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law
- Retaliate against a User for leaving an honest review
2.3 Safety and Property
- Engage in any activity that poses a risk of harm to any person or property
- Perform work while impaired by drugs or alcohol
- Enter areas of a Customer's property not required for the contracted work
- Steal, damage, or misuse another User's property, tools, or personal belongings
- Take unauthorized photos, videos, or recordings at a Customer's property
2.4 Platform Abuse
- Circumvent the Platform to avoid paying applicable fees (e.g., soliciting off-platform transactions for jobs initiated through Kerf)
- Scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Platform using automated means (bots, crawlers, scrapers)
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any other User's account or any restricted area of the Platform
- Interfere with, disrupt, or overload the Platform's infrastructure
- Use the Platform to distribute spam, advertisements, or promotional material unrelated to a legitimate transaction
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent account restrictions or bans
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Platform
2.5 Illegal Activity
- Use the Platform for any purpose that violates applicable federal, state, or local law
- Perform work that requires a license, permit, or certification you do not hold
- Facilitate money laundering, tax evasion, or other financial crimes
- Engage in transactions involving stolen goods, counterfeit items, or illegal materials
3. Content Standards
All User Content submitted to the Platform — including profile information, messages, reviews, photos, and job descriptions — must comply with the following standards:
- Must be truthful and not misleading
- Must not infringe upon the intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights of any third party
- Must not contain viruses, malware, or other harmful code
- Must not contain obscene, pornographic, or excessively violent content
- Must not contain hate speech or content that promotes discrimination or violence against any group
- Must not contain personal information of another person without their consent (such as phone numbers, addresses, or financial information)
- Must not promote illegal goods, services, or activities
4. Anti-Discrimination Policy
Kerf is committed to creating a fair and inclusive marketplace. All Users must comply with applicable anti-discrimination laws, including but not limited to:
- The Civil Rights Act (Title II and Title VII)
- The Fair Housing Act
- The Americans with Disabilities Act
- Ohio Civil Rights Act (Ohio Rev. Code Chapter 4112)
- Applicable local anti-discrimination ordinances
Pros may not refuse to serve a Customer, and Customers may not refuse to hire a Pro, based on any protected characteristic. If you believe you have experienced discrimination on the Platform, please report it to support@kerfapp.io.
5. Reporting Violations
If you believe another User has violated this AUP, please report it by:
- Using the "Report" feature within the Platform (if available)
- Contacting support@kerfapp.io with details of the incident
Please include as much detail as possible, including the other User's name or profile, a description of the conduct, and any relevant screenshots or communications.
If you are in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement (911) before contacting Kerf.
6. Enforcement
Kerf investigates reported violations and reserves the right to take any action it deems appropriate, including but not limited to:
- Issuing a warning to the offending User
- Temporarily suspending the offending User's account
- Permanently terminating the offending User's account
- Removing or modifying User Content that violates this AUP
- Reporting illegal activity to law enforcement
- Pursuing legal remedies
Kerf may take enforcement action at any time, with or without prior notice, at its sole discretion.
7. Changes to This Policy
Kerf may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to Users via email or a notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
